Use games to reinforce in-class learning, career discovery, or as an impactful free-time activity

Cyber Watchdog was designed for meaningful impact with minimal effort from educators. Students can launch the game as new players or through Google Single Sign-On, set up their avatar in under five minutes, and then jump straight into gameplay and industry-informed environments. To ensure students see Massachusetts’ most relevant career pathways and local companies, please have them enter their local ZIP code during account setup.

The gameplay works well in 15-, 30-, or 45-minute sessions, making it easy to fit into class time or free periods. A short discussion afterward about what students learned creates a natural opportunity to reinforce concepts and support career-interest planning.

  • Train to become a Cyber Watchdog by mastering core cybersecurity skills. Players will learn key terminology, types of cyber attacks, computer language, and computer components. They will gain experience with binary code, password hashing and building a pc.

    8 levels / approx. 2-4 minutes each

  • Defend a company’s network and employees from cyber threats to protect privacy and operations. Players will learn about network security and personal privacy while practicing internet safety with the addition of email phishing minigames.

    5 levels / approx. 3.5-4 minutes each

  • Stop Herakles from crashing the bank’s systems and stealing from customers. Players will discover cybersecurity’s relationship to money and will learn how to construct strong passwords for cyber protection to build proactive defenses.

HACK OUT BL4CKOUT

Keep notorious hacker “BL4CKOUT” from stealing all of Boston’s private data - emails, phone numbers, he wants it all. The game consists of four, 5-minute challenges simulating real-world cybersecurity events brought on by a notorious hacker, “BL4CKOUT”, attempting to breach critical infrastructure. Complete all four minigames and receive a Cyber Badge of Completion.

  • Tech equivalency: Inspired by monitoring of real-life power grids, players must re-align the power grid by rerouting power to the correct spot/node/location.

  • Tech equivalency: Inspired by locating corrupted pieces/blocks of data, users determine how BL4CK0UT accessed the network by honing in on the data traces he left behind.

  • Tech equivalency: Inspired by disconnected network hubs, players must run cables to the correct ports by maneuvering them around each other without crossing.

  • Tech equivalency: Inspired by Wi-Fi Spectrum Analyzers and waveform analysis, users must track down BL4CK0UT’s signal to pinpoint his location.
